Nissan launches the Sunny with diesel engine in India

Nissan has launched the diesel Sunny in India with prices starting at Rs. 7.98 lakh for the XL variant and Rs. 8.78 lakh for the fully loaded XV variant.

There is no base (XE) variant for the diesel version as yet and variant for variant the diesel version is price around Rs. 1.3 lakh more than the petrol counterpart (this is excluding the discounts available on the petrol models). Continue reading

Audi to launch Q6 sports crossover in 2013

Audi is reportedly working on a new crossover which will slot in between the Q5 and the Q7 and give competition to BMW’s X6.

Automotive News Europe magazine has confirmed this bit of information from Walter de’Silva, the design chief with the Volkswagen Group. While Audi has a rival for all of Mercedes and BMW’s vehicles a sports crossover would enable it to widen its offerings and tap into the lucrative though niche segment. Odds are that the new crossover would be named the Q6 and will share its platform with the Volkswagen Touareg and Porsche Cayenne.

Chevrolet hikes Beat Diesel's price by 15000

Beat Diesel price goes up

Chevrolet has hiked the Beat Diesel’s sticker price by Rs. 15,000 with immediate effect, citing rising input costs.

The petrol Beat is not affected at the moment though General Motors has stated that prices of the Beat Petrol will be hiked by 1-2% in January 2012. Chevrolet is expected to debut the 2012 Beat model at next month’s Delhi Auto Expo and launch the same soon afterwards. The rising demand for diesel hatchbacks has made the Beat Diesel into a hot seller and this price hike will have little effect on the car’s popularity which may only increase after the launch of the facelifted model next month. Legendary Italian superbike maker MV Agusta has confirmed that it will launch its bike range in India beginning 2012.

The niche bike maker’s CEO Giovanni Castiglioni has paid heed to India’s growing superbike market and decided to join rivals like Ducati and BMW Motorrad here. Since volumes will be very low the bikes would be imported as completely built units (CBUs) from Italy. The MV Agusta range consists of the Brutale series (920, R 1090, RR 1090 and the new Brutale 675) as well as the F3, F4 and F4 RR F3 superbikes. Continue reading

Skoda launches the Rapid sedan in India

The first Rapid rolling out of Skoda's Pune plant

Skoda has launched the VW Vento based Rapid sedan in India starting from a price tag of Rs. 6.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Rapid is mechanically almost identical to the Vento and features the same powertrain options which mean that it is available with a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre TDI diesel engines mated to a manual or automatic transmission. Externally the Rapid distinguishes itself from the Vento via its typical Skoda grille, changed bonnet, headlights and bumper. At the rear the boot and taillights are new as well and it would be safe to say that the Rapid ends up looking hotter than its sibling the Vento. Continue reading
