Chevrolet has taken the covers off its next-generation Aveo ahead of the car’s official debut at this month’s Paris Motor Show.
The new Aveo follows Chevrolet’s new design philosophy which we have already seen on the Chevrolet Cruze and the Beat hatchback. The new model is decidedly more appealing than the current Aveo which has become a laggard when it comes to sales. Many design cues are borrowed from the Beat including the concealed rear door handles, taut styling and the rear profile.
The 2011 Chevrolet Aveo has been currently revealed in hatchback form (equal to the Aveo U-Va here) but a sedan version will also be later made available. The car is both longer and wider than the current Aveo so will offer greater interior room and comfort. Chevrolet has revealed that the new Aveo will be powered by a range of engines internationally including the 1.2-litre unit from the Beat and up to a 115bhp 1.6-litre unit in the ‘hot hatch’ version.
When launched in India in 2011 the new Aveo will be a tough competitor in the already cut-throat large hatchback segment.
