Delhi Traffic Police is on Facebook

Delhi Traffic Police police is using the power of social media to book errant drivers on the city’s bustling streets.

Having started a Facebook Page just over two months ago, the department today has over 17,600 Fans who have posted more than 3,000 photos and videos of people breaking traffic laws on Delhi’s streets. These photos & videos are now being used to book drivers who are seen breaking rules, provided their vehicle registration plates are also visible.

This is an innovative way of the authorities using the power of social media for the good of the general public. It also shows that public policing is an effective tool which the government should use more often.
