Skoda Launches Superb with Diesel and V6 Engines

Skoda has in quick succession launched the new Superb’s diesel variant and the range topping V6 FSI. The fabulous new Superb was first launched only with the 1.8 litre FSI petrol engine but everyone was waiting for the diesel, especially as Skoda has come to be known as a diesel car specialist. Now the Superb can be had with the new turbocharged 2.0 litre Pumpe Duse (PD) which is mated to a 6-speed DSG transmission with tiptronic functionality. The 2.0 litre TDI PD Superb is priced higher than the petrol model at Rs. 22,04,943 (ex-showroom Delhi) but is still expected to sell more than the former.

Skoda has surprised us all by launching the range topping Superb with a big 3.6 litre V6 engine. This is the biggest engine fitted to any Skoda currently and belts out 260 bhp and 350Nm of torque between. With this much power the hefty Superb lifts her skirt up and sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, hitting a top speed of 250 km/h. The superb performance figures are partly due to the quickshifting DSG gearbox and four-wheel drive system that this Superb model is equipped with. Priced at Rs. 25,31,343 (ex-showroom Delhi) the V6 Superb is good value considering it is priced on par with the Honda Accord V6 and has four-wheel drive, faster acceleration and much more kit and space on the inside.
