Maruti-Suzuki has launched the Swift Dzire today at noon. I just came back from a test drive of the ZDi diesel Dzire offered to me by my neighbourhood Maruti dealer. From the looks of it the Dzire is identical to the Swift hatch till the B pillar. From then on the rear door is longer and the car itself is wider at the rear to offer more rear seat width and leg room. The rear seat was comfy with a decent recline which would make long journeys more pleasant. There is also a central flip down armrest.

The seat fabric is beige but the interior plastics remain black, Maruti could have spruced up the interiors a bit to give the Dzire more bling. The engine, equipment and all technical specification remain the same. The Dzire looks great from the rear and rear 3/4th view. The boot is nicely integrated and does not look like much of an afterthought. Boot space is also good at 464 litres.

The ZDi which i test drove did not seem underpowered, infact the car pulled cleanly from 2000 rpm onwards reaching 100 kmph in what seemed like about 15 seconds. When driven on bad pothole ridden roads the Swift Dzire ZDi was not as skittish as it’s hatchback version thanks to the retuned suspension. The Dzire gets the same old crappy JK rubber on all variants and the thin 165/80 tyres look very puny on the LXi/LDi and VXi/VDi versions. The alloys on offer on the ZXi/ZDi versions are also boring to look at, aftermarket fitments would do more justice to the Dzire.

All in all i think the Swift Dzire would sell in large numbers and it’s upto Maruti-Suzuki to match the demand and ensure the waiting time is kept to the minimum.

Do you like the Dzire or think it’s no great shakes? Share your comments.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Prices (ex-showroom, Gurgaon)

Thanks for all the details. I saw the official site http://www.marutidzire.com. It gives all the specs and features. I also register myself for a test drive. It looks fantastic.
The Dzire is very good looking car. Its rear is really classic- even better than SX4 to look at. The boot space is great.Rear leg room is not much to speak off. The front seating is also not as comfortable as WagonR and SX4.On the whole a good package for the middle class. The ZDi will make a big whole in your pocket though. Shame that she comes with tyres and Alloys that look a compromise. But I will yet go for the ZDi, since only it has the ABS with EBD.
I agree about the tyres. JK is surely not upholding the image of tge car and the skinpy tyres on LDi and VDi are really not that good at all.
Maruti should do something to prevent Customers throwing away the Orignal Tyres for Peanuts and wasting thier money. On the whole a VFM Car. Still trying to get hold of a TEST Drive in Delhi, but it was not possible due to not availability with Dealers.
I took a test drive yesterday. I found it a very good package. It has the style factor, the comfort, space, and maruti tag – all in one
Its an invention not a design.I was told that
this is designed by both indian and Japanese
engineers, and is evident from sideview .front
belongs to Japanese and rear belongs to Indian mated together by a matchbox suzuki design. Very nice to compete with Honda city
which boasts of same lineage.
I purchased Swift Dzire recently. The name was was the first attaraction. swift desire, wow! Looks added to the allure, test drive convinced me. II have driven the car at 150 kmph on acute bends, and the car did not protest in any way except a muted screech once in a while. Power delivery from the diesel engine is lenear, and it just pulls and pulls beyond 2000 rpm. Comforts are not really comparable to an S-class or 7-series, but one cannot shake a finger at them either.
Madihur, Congratulation on your buy. Which variant did you go for, petrol or diesel? What has been your experience so far with performance and fuel economy?
Mr madihur rehman your license should really be revoked.150kmph on acute bends and your so proud of it putting other peoples life in danger for your own thrill.well if it was zdi i.e abs with ebd you were lucky.but folks dont try this with your dzire even if its zdi.be more responsible please.
Swift Diesel engine is kind of fraud to customers. In early days it will behave very good but after sometime there will be no good mileage except from black smoke more than any other diesel car.
I am having Swift VDi car and it is not only mine but also the experience of other customers.
Maruti can only provide good patrol engines ,not the good diesel engines. You will not believe but I complainted this several time but there was no resolution.
Guys
I am planning to buy Dzire, VXI. pls let me know the mileage.
I have been trying to book a Maruti Swift Dezire VXI from the last few days, and am going through the a harrowing experience with the Dealers. I first went to Pratham Motors at Outer Ring Road to book the car. They refused to take a booking and told me that Maruti has stopped taking booking of Swift Dezire cars. When I put pressure on them they told me that they can take the booking but the delivery would take 9 months. They had 2 weeks back told me that the delivery would take 3 months, which was also long, but I was ready to accept it. But last week they told me that they would be able to deliver in 9 months. I was also surprised by their behavior.
I then called up the Maruti call center and spoke to Jiten, He told me that there was no stop from Maruti’s end on booking for Dezire and the delivery period was much earlier than 3 months. He took my mobile no. and promised me that somebody would be calling me at the earliest. But till now there is no call.
After that I spoke to multiple other dealers in Bangalore for the booking but every body was mentioning that the delivery would take 4 to 6 months. When I spoke to Mr. Anil from RNS Motors, Yesthwantapur. He told me that they could deliver the vehicle in 3 months time, I was relived and asked him to send a person to take the booking immediately. But nobody came for the booking till afternoon. Then I had to call Mr.Anil multiple times. Then at last in the evening he promised that one sales executive would reach my home late in the evening.
At last at 8 PM one Sales Executive from RNS Motors Bomanhalli reaches my home, gives me a price and tells me that there are no discounts and any freebees. I agree to the same and fill the booking form. After filling the form when I was giving him a cheque of Rs.25, 000/- as the booking amount, he refused to take it and said that the Booking amount for the Swift Dezire is Rs.1, 00, 000/-, which is fixed by Maruti. I asked him to show me documentation to this effect, he was unable to show any documentation. After that I spoke to the Sales Manager, of RNS Motors Bommanhalli and also with Mr. Anil from RNS Motors Yeshwantpur the accept Rs.25, 000/- as the booking amount, but they FLATLY REFUSED.
After that I also called the Maurti call center again and spoke to Mr. Danish, and asked him if Maruti had fixed the booking amount of Rs.1, 00, 000/- for the Swift Dezire. He told me that Maruti had not fixed any thing of this kind and he would take it up with the concerned authorities. I asked him for the phone nos. of the Regional Manager at Bangalore of his mail id. He refused to give them to me and just gave a email id contact@maruti.co.in.
At end of all this experiences I feel very disturbed with the way I was treated by the Maruti dealers. The attitude they have is like they have a monopoly and can take the customers for a ride. My not buying a Maruti car will not make any difference to a big company like Maruti. I just wanted to check with Maruti if this the way the want their dealers to treat customers and claim to be the Winner of J.D.Power Customer Satisfaction awards, year after year.
I had sent the entire above details to the email id provided by the call center and also put in the details in their web site. I got a reply mentioning that the complaint has been sent to the concerned department and they would get back to me. 5 days had passed and there was no reply. So I sent a reminder mail.
Some body then called from the call center and was taking the details when the line got disconnected. He did not bother to call me again after that. This is kind of service we get from the leading Car Manufacturer in India.
The mileage is somewhere around 10-12 for initial days. After the service it will be near 15.
SWIFT DZIRE is the Best car Maruti has ever produced after SWIFT.
Actually I went to book SWIFT VXI and first time I saw SWIFT DZIRE.
I toook test ride and left with no choice but to Book DZIRE.
- ve point is waiting period.Dealer is saying 6 months.Ready to wait for that period.
It’s worth to wait for DZIRE.
From outward look it looks good.Interior details not assessible.can I have a test drive beacuse I plan to go for it.I have at present Zen VXI which is really good but it is 6yr old.
Dear Friends,
Dzire diesel car is really excellent to drive and is a VFM. But the availability of the same is difficult these days in entire north India as well. As discussed with various dealers, this is due to shortage of supply of cars, every dealer is alloted only 04 cars a month, hence the waiting period is approx. 3 to 6 months everywhere in India.
