Suzuki Kizashi D Segment Car Launching in 2010

The only weakness that Suzuki has is the lack of a D segment saloon which can compete with the likes of the Honda Civic, Toyota Corrola, Skoda Octavia and the upcoming Volkswagen Jetta. Come 2010 and Maruti Suzuki would change that, it would enter the D segment market with the production version of the Kizashi concept which was unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2007 and also showcased at our own Auto Expo 2008. The Kizashi would be launched at a price of around Rs. 10 lakh and would feature many innovative features including Suzuki’s first all-wheel drive system. It is likely to be powered by a 2 litre turbo diesel engine and boast of a six speed transmission and large 21 inch alloys.

The Kizashi concept is a ferocious looking machine with a large black glossy grille which seems like its about to eat whatever is in front of it. The LED lights cut into the front bumper like swords. The rear is like that of a station wagon with a 5th door. Towing the recent Suzuki design philosophy of high metal to glass ratio the Kizashi’s glass area is very compact. The production version of the Kizashi is expected to roll out from Maruti’s new Manesar facility in Haryana.

According to industry sources, Maruti engineers have already started working on the production version of the Kizashi. I really like the way Suzuki is positioning itself as a progressive carmaker with innovative products which have strong appeal in developed and developing markets. The process which began with the new Swift seems to be in high gear and would do Suzuki a lot of good in the future.

the new suzuki kizashi is anm excelent car . I would like the car to retain its original
power of 365 bhp ;. I would have liked it if instead of four wheel drive it had a back wheel drive, that would have made the the car more agile around corners . also I would have liked if the car instead of a small windscreen it had a
panoramic windscreen.well the fit and finish
is excellent . I wwould have liked it if
instead of a tourer styling it had a more coupe styling.
