Tata Motors kept the buzz going around its stall at the Auto Expo 2008 by unveiling the new Indica Vista on the first day. The new Indica will come into the market by the middle of 2008 and would sell alaongside the current Indica but with a different name. The new Indica is light years ahead of the current Indica in terms of design and performance. It has a more proportionate and sporty stance with the front end getting extra stretched headlamps and a larger grille.
The car looks like its the old Indica on steroids, its pumped up. The new Indica would compete with the premium B segment hatchbacks including the Getz, Swift, Aveo-UVA and Palio. The interiors are still under development and were not opened to the media at the expo however the instrument cluster has been moved to the center, a trend which i dont quite approve of for more reasons than one.
The new Indica is longer and wider than the current model with more legroom inside. The new Indica would be powered by a 1.3 litre quadra jet common rail diesel engine (sourced from Fiat and the same engine which does duty in the Swift) and a 1.2 litre VVT petrol engine which would be manufactured at the Fiat-tata plant at Ranjangaon in Maharashtra. The new Indica would have larger 14 inch wheels with 175/65 spec tubeless tyres and finally the tyres fill up the wheelarch unlike the current Indica. The new Indica is likely to be priced between Rs.4 – 5 lakh and would be launched by the middle of 2008.
I am sure the new Indica would be a success no matter what its called but Tata Motors would need to keep in check the small niggling problems which crop up and the fit and finish which was not upto the mark on their show car at the Auto Expo (see picture of door rubber beading coming off)

Instrument cluster in the middle is the current European trend that is being followed even by Japanese models like Toyota Yaris. However, the central instrument cluster should curve in a way so that it faces towards the driver.
The back should have been better designed. Looks like the old Indica, Nano and the new Indica share the same back panel !

I was waiting for this car from a long time, well
well everything looks absolutely fine except
the instrument cluster which is in the
middle , i would not like to drive without
the cockpit feeling which is given by the
instrument cluster in front of me, i dont
want others to know what speed iam driving
in, i think tata might loose potential
customers because of this
I am currently owning an Indica and in the
new model also I see that there is nothing
much done to the steering position which is so
very high compared to the seating position.
This is causing shoulder pain on long drives.

great looks,much better than indica prev models.but there are some scratches in this too
1.steering wheel height-shud have been a litl bit more lower.it does give shoulder pains on long drives.
2.instrument cluster shud not be in th middle as this gives the car a mickey mouse car look.we dontr wna tthat.we need a small powerful beast hehehe..
3.a little more better plastics please!!

10 lakh+ indicas on indian roads…no othr proof required of hw much its likd by ppl…according to me:.(+)ve points: dimensions increased..so is cabin space..will give big car feel.2:wider tyres & importantly tubless, ride will be exceptionally gud.3:headlamps,styling..full marks..dashboard shows better a/c control knobs & better plastics.(-)ve points:-1:orvm shud hav been similar to the 2007 facelift model, thy luk well integrated…the ones on (x1) r of the earlier model..thy make the car luk a bit broad..nt required.2:instrument cluster in the middle will nt b taken well by all.3:steering height adjust & driver seat height adjust missing.
Over all this is a nice car except for the
front grill which looks like the old indica

thing that the front grill of the car should
not be like this it seems to be like older
one. I think the front grill should be like

I think this car is may be my dream car because when i saw this my web the colour of the newly launched car is blue car and its shape is very cute. Finally my opinon is its rocking model of 2008.
so cute and its interior is ok but the front grill is looking old and the colour is also ok.
I thank my brother because its his laptop and that i could see the wonder ful car in the google and i thank Mr.RATHAN TATA because he has launched a wonderful car.

Good awaited car By TATA,,, Good style, better interiors but only thing which pinches is the instrument pannel at middle of dashboard which is seen in few cars of Euorope/japan & people in india are not used to it.Instrument pannel is to give instant information to a person on drivers seat that too at a glance……can tata midify the same in the current model.
