UPDATE: SWIFT DZIRE LAUNCHED, WE TEST DRIVE THE ZDi
Rumours have been doing the rounds for long that the esteem is due for replacement with the new Swift sedan, Dzire. Now Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the esteem replacement, the Dzire on March 26th. We have managed to lay our hands on this scoop picture and video:

From the above picture and video the rear end looks disproportionately bigger than the rest of the car. The C pillar is really thick and gives the rear a chunky profile. The boot, rear tail lamps and bumper look pretty neat. Tyre size looks the same as do the alloys available on the ZXi Swift. Notice the wide panel gaps between the rear door and the C pillar and rear quarterpanel.
The guys at Maruti will be plonking the existing 1.3 litre petrol and diesel motors in the Dezire and might give the top end petrol variant SX4′s 1.6 litre’s heart which would make it a performance sedan. Value wise the Dezire is likely to be attractive, priced between Rs. 5-Rs.6 lakh. The car would compete primarily with the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai Verna and Chevrolet Aveo. Would the budget sedan customer put his money on the Dezire? We think yes, what about you?

Maruti was supposed to launch the Swift Sedan in January-2008.What happened,are they waiting to capture the market by Fabia? Same they did with the Wagon R,launched after two years,when the Santro grab the market in 1998.
We are convinced with the concept of launching the swift sedan..but till date no informations is being circulated as to when it will launch and on asking the maruti dealers they are perturbed with situatiobn.
The Swift Dzire is likely to be launched in April 2008. Keep your eyes and ears open! More Dzires have been seen on test runs in various parts of the country. The car is also likely to be priced at a Rs. 50,000 premium over the Swift hatchback.
hey nikita even iam confused as well…..fabia is gr8 car as it is frm audi and vw(germany).da quality is amazing..maruti exterior steell is nt up to da mark..bt jus wait til april until da swift sedan is launched..
Hi Udit, The Dzire was launched at noon today. Great looking car. And the price is even more tempting – starting at 4.49 lacs.
