Reading the value conscious Indian consumers mind Skoda has launched a trimmed down version of it’s flagship model the Superb. The new ‘Superb Comfort’ is priced at Rs 20.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) almost Rs 2 lakh below the Elegante diesel variant. The ‘Comfort’ variant is powered by the same engine as the ‘Elegante’ a 2.5-litre TDi engine and retains goodies such as front airbags, ABS and climate control.

Off late Skoda’s Octavia has been taking a beating in the market and the more expensive Laura has been outselling it. The Superb has been selling modestly and enjoys a good ‘word of mouth’ from existing owners. Internationally Skoda is planning to bring out a new generation model of the Superb which it will bring to India in September 2008. Skoda would want to sell the existing model as much as possible before the phase out and that could be one of the main reasons for this price cut.
