Mercedes Benz India Trail an entourage comprising of Mercedes’s entire diesel car portfolio was flagged off by Dr Wilbur (MD & CEO DCIL) from Pune yesterday (18th Sep’ 07). This is a showcase drive to highlight the case for diesel as a efficient automotive fuel and Mercedes’s fleet of six diesel models including the S-Class, C-Class, E-Class, M-Class, Bio-diesel C-Class and the Viano. Mercedes wants to highlight it’s diesel portfolio’s sensitivity towards the evironment since modern diesel cars reduce exhaust emissions by 70-80 per cent and expel 20-30 per cent lesser greenhouse gases than petrol.
The pan-India drive will run 40,000 kms through Goa, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Pushkar and Jaipur before ending in Delhi on October 10th 2007. The drive would also highlight the reliability of Mercedes diesel cars.
P.S: Mercedes could look at promoting the CARPOOL initiative of INDIMOTO.COM and help reduce emmissions, traffic and fuel consumption while enabling commuters to save money.
