The new year always makes auto manufacturers pick up the scalpel and give their range a cosmetic makeover. Following this trend Tata Motors has launched the new Indica V2 2007 range in India.

The Indica V2 range, including the Xeta, the normally aspirated Diesel and the V2 Turbo, now sport a new front bumper with chrome inlaid grille, a set of new dual-tone outer rear-view mirrors, new front fog lamps, dual chamber head lamps and a pair of new bison tail lamps. Its interiors sport new upholstery, a new instrument cluster, a new centre fascia along with a more contemporary steering wheel. While the Xeta range carries forward its beige interiors, the diesel Indicas get a new black interior. The new range is available in four new colours – Arizona Ochre, Amazon Blue, Cavern Grey and Pastel Green.

The petrol variants are slotted in the price range of Rs 2.55 lakh to Rs 3.49 lakh, while the diesels are available in the price range of Rs 3.22 lakh to Rs 4.13 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The cosmetic changes are sure to freshen up things with the now dated Indica. The value proposition would seem very tempting to budget conscious buyers, however a new CRDi diesel engine is also expected later this year. This would make the Indica Turbo Diesel a more powerful machine and make it compete effectively with the Swift & Getz diesels in 2007.
