Overdrive has spied Hyundai’s new Santro being tested near its factory in Sriperumbudur near Chennai. The test car was heavily wrapped however it seemed bigger than the current car. The car retains its tallboy design but has a totally new front end with new Peugeot 207 type headlamps and a longer bonnet with a cab forward design. The car is also longer and wider than the current model which will add to high speed stability and interior space. The interiors are very modern and better finished than todays Santro.
The new Santro is reported to be fitted with a 1.3 litre next generation petrol engine and come with a CNG option. A 1.1 litre CRDI engine is also being considered. Expect the car around October 2007 once the new Hyundai plant is on track and the car has been through the testing phase.

I have seen the new model of the Santro
on the Chennai Highway… It seems to be that
the concept is taken from the Maruti Swift…
It gives u a look of Swift from the front ..
and from back company has changed a bit and
have better interiors and are very modern
and better finished than todays Santro.
