We had revealed Maruti’s plans to bring in the new Baleno right after it launched the Estilo (new Zen) in December 2006 (read more in this post)
Now we bring to you the first pictures of the new Baleno scheduled to be launched in January 2007. Infact Maruti dealerships have already started preparing for the new model. Also the old Baleno is being sold at heavy discounts to clear inventory.
The new Baleno is based on Suzuki’s SX4 prototype and is actually a sedan version of the same. The new car looks rather chic and modern with an angular design like the Swift which represents the new design philosophy at Suzuki. The new Baleno is expected to be priced in the Rs. 7-8 lakh bracket and is sure to pull away sales of the Honda City, its most direct competitor.

UPDATE: Maruti Suzuki has shut production of the current Baleno in order to clear inventory prior to the new Baleno’s launch in January/February 2007. Maruti has closed its plant for annual maintenance and is not expected to restart production of Baleno when the plant reopens in the first week of January. As a result the Baleno can be had at fabulous discounts of upto Rs.75,000 (under finance).

New model for baleno is good and almost same as Honda City but the price should be comparable and should be cheaper as honda to beat the market.
The new baleno will come out in petrol at first and subsequently a diesel motor. The car is expected to be priced at arounf Rs. 7 lakh (lesser than the City) while it will have a much more powerful 94 bhp engine and as much space as the City. Obviously being a Maruti product it will be fuel efficient and easy to maintain.

Looks great. Waiting eagerly for the launch. Was planning to go in for a HOnda City but have stalled it after hearing the news of New Baleno. Hope the company has taken care about the ground clearance, which the present Baleno lacks, keeps bumping into road humps. Looks like an hybreed of Fiesta and Verna, but i bet it will steal the show from both fiesta & verna. My advise is to wait for 6 months after the launch and then go for it. Performance matters ..you know.

Can i buy New Maruti Suzuki Baleno in Pakistan.
Being an owner of Sx4 and member of the blog I take it as my responsibility to give a genuine feedback about the car. Well looks very aggressive & bold, it’s study & muscular shape gives it amazing appearance on exteriors. It completes my style statement & suits my personality. On interiors its soooooooo room-y that I find traveling much easy and comfortable now. Leg room is gr8 and one can easily stretch legs while traveling. Its packed with so many of safety features which makes life absolutely safe, both for driver and passengers. Technically I m not sure of my knowledge bt I only knw tht it has got a gr8 fuel efficient engine and which gives gr8 pick up & power & completes the aggressive appeal. On the flip side of the coin I find sum prblm while reversing but I didn’t want to leave so many benefits jst bcoz of ths small issue (wch almst all sedans hav) so I hav put an electronic reversing sensor which digitally tells me about car’s distance frm the object on rear side.
Net net I am more thn satisfied by the performance & total boquet of benefits I get frm ths car
I am an IT professional and lead a team, m quite aggressive in nature and work on “Get Goers” principle, I m very particular abt wht I purchase, it must reflect my personality. Recently I bought a new car Sx4 and I can only say that if I were to be changed into a car thn I wud surely be just like it. Exteriors are just mesmerizing and no sedan in the same segment gives me. I feel proud whn I see tht hw my car stands out in huge parking lot of my company filled with similar looking cars.
I m gr8 believer of performance and I feel thr is no substitute for it here also it bags the title and the kind of pulling power it gives me I don’t have to frequently switch gears in traffic jams. The spacious passenger cabin is cozy n comfortable while traveling long distances its simply the best sedan I hav driven in my life so far and far better thn other sedans of the segment wch boasts of luxury and gives u a femenish look on the name of luxury i think Maruti has done a gr8 job to create a car for male community wch reflects basic traits of a man yet being luxurious & safe.
I m an automobile grad and run an automotive related business of my own. hence knw a bit about engines and all. Recently I purchased n sx4. ths car has really challenged my understanding of automobiles. It delivers engine performance at the peak level (atleast in the segment).
Power + fuel efficiency + luxury + space + comfort + safety +……= Sx4
I wntd to upgrade my car bt unfortunately I didn’t hav any car appealing to my taste wch suits my budget also. Thn I heard abt sx4 so I thought of checking it out with the first sight I was sure tht ths is sumthng I always wntd and whn executive educated me abt features of the car and all the features I get vis-vis amount spent I was more thn convinced of booking it bt still being rationale I thought of taking a test drive and the ride was jst unbeatable. To my surprise it has got every thing be it power, control, safety, luxury, style, aggression, performance …… and what not! I booked my vehicle tht very moment and nw it has been 3 months since I m enjoying the ride of it. it’s a gr8 car !
I like it, but i think the old baleno, is better in cc and design….
