After the success of the Swift, Maruti Suzuki is firing on all cylinders and bringing in the new avatars of the Zen and the Baleno both of which are expected by December – January 2007. The production of the Zen has since a while been stopped in order to clear production lines for the new model while the Baleno is currently being dished out with massive discounts to clear stock.
According to Autocar India, the new Baleno is going to be a saloon version of Suzuki’s new SX4 and will be radical departure from the conservative styling of the current model. Its likely to be priced between Rs.7-8 Lakh and would most probably be launched with the current 94Bhp 1.6 liter petrol engine which does duty on the present Baleno. Maruti must also be considering slotting a diesel engine in the new Baleno down the line to compete with the Fiesta & Verna diesels.
The new Zen is actually Suzuki’s first generation MR Wagon and will be priced between Rs. 3.5-4 Lakh and will come with the Wagon R’s 1.1 liter 64 Bhp petrol engine. The new Zen as attractive as it looks might just cannibalize Maruti’s recently face lifted Wagon R and might also attract some Swift customers.
its really nice to hear that ZEN is back. I like the new model but it resembles to Matiz. It wud be great if you can provide more profiles like side preview, back priview etc. of the new Zen. Till now I thought of buying Wagon R in Dec or by mid week of Jan, I might go for Zen if i get more pictures and details bout zen at the earliest.

I think this is one of the most hi- tech cars i hav ever seen in india…the looks the style and the features are just too good to stop looking at…i would definately love to have this car in my garage…i think maruti has done a real good choise by re-imaging the zen which they were thinking of withdrawing from the indian market.
Well, i have always liked maruti cars and we have been using maruti for last 18 years, but i m really keen to know about the new baleno look out,hope to see it very soon.
